New Immigration Law Announced by President Biden

On June 18, 2024, President Biden announced a new immigration law aimed at improving the immigration system in the United States. Although the full details of the law are yet to be released, here’s what we know so far:

Key Points of the Announcement
  • New Process for Spouses and Step-Children of U.S. Citizens:  People who have been physically present in the United States since June 17, 2014, and who were married to a U.S. citizen as of June 17, 2024, will, in many cases, qualify for Parole in Place, which will allow them to obtain lawful permanent resident status from within the United States, without having to leave the country, and without needing a waiver.
  • Work Visas: Changes to work visa policies to make it easier for skilled workers to enter and remain in the United States.
